There are several paths toward membership at Good Shepherd. If already a member of another congregation in the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, one can submit a written “transfer request” to that congregation requesting your membership be transferred to Good Shepherd. If a member of another Lutheran denomination (e.g. ELCA or WELS) please contact Pastor Groth.
If a member of another denomination, or having no background in the church, then attending the “New Membership Class” is necessary for membership at Good Shepherd. Pastor Groth offers this class usually twice a year. Typically it consists of six to ten individuals and meets for about 15 consecutive weeks on Sunday mornings, from 9:15-10:15am in what we call “The Spanish Room.” This class covers the basic tenets of the Christian faith, and, if desired, can culminate in membership at Good Shepherd. Child care for children 3 and under can be provided if necessary. If you have older children, please enroll them in our Sunday School. All materials (the Holy Bible and Luther’s Small Catechism) are provided. If interested in joining the next class, or wanting to attend but unable on Sunday mornings, please contact Pastor Groth.
